I had a conversation with an MD yesterday. Every month they are fully focused on making their sales, “hitting their numbers”. This of course is sensible. Or is it?
Yes, make your numbers.
If we chase too hard, if we hold that target too closely, too blindly, we might start to miss the opportunities which float alongside, unannounced.
Take the long view.
If we orientate to a super long term view, the pinch of our immediate problems ease off. Taking the long view helps us look up rather than down.
When we’re looking up, we’re confident, we’re happy. When we look down, we’re cold. Or we’ve got rain in our faces. Or both.
Look up and trust that doing the right little things over and over will ensure the big things take care of themselves.
